Gold Medal Match Recap
The second-seeded Americans overcame the fifth-seeded Brazilian duo and a passionate home crowd to secure a hard-fought 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) victory. Brasher emerged as the standout performer with 24 points, 20 kills, and three blocks.
The Americans led most of the first set before Carol and Rebecca fought back to reach set point at 19-18. Nuss and Brasher responded with three consecutive points, closing the set with a Nuss ace. The second set saw the Americans twice build leads only for Brazil to close the gap to 19-19, before Nuss sealed victory with a powerful spike.
“It was so difficult! They are incredible and we knew that in front of this home crowd it would be pretty rowdy and they would bring the passion like they always do. So we just tried to stick with each other and trust ourselves,” Nuss said after the match.
Bronze Medal Match
Reigning Olympic champions Ana Patricia and Duda secured bronze with a 2-1 (19-21, 21-15, 15-12) victory over Dutch qualifiers Emi van Driel and Wies Bekhuis. Ana Patricia dominated with six kill blocks and a match-high 20 points.
This marks the Americans ninth Beach Pro Tour gold medal and 15th medal overall, while the Brazilian Olympic champions earned their first Tour medal since winning gold at this same venue in May 2024.
